Re: Amazon.

Lippy, you don't mention which browser you are using or how you are searching. Are you typing the search into the address bar at the top, or in the case of Firefox in the search box or from a search page?

Firefox for instance will show you all the search providers it has links for if you click the magnifying glass in its search box, Internet explorer will show you if you click the magnifying glass in the address bar (it will also show you "add" and from there you go to the gallery of addons such as adblock or google or whatever), in Opera or Chrome, right click the address bar and choose "edit search engine" and it will list them.

You have not given enough information for anyone to help you unfortunately, therefore all people can do is take wild guesses of what you are experiencing.

Re: Amazon.

At some point you have probably been on a website (amazon?) or downloaded something and it has been pre-checked to use Amazon as the default search engine.

It is easy to get caught out with this but easy to correct as bickern has pointed out.

I have mine set to a blank page as I dont want google (or any other ) staring me in the face when I boot up each morning. :-)
