Xmas dont drink & drive!

It wont be long before the drink driving campaigns start. Never being to sure what my level would read in the morning I decided to buy one of those cheap electronic breathalysers. Most say they are not accurate.

However I disregard the actual reading it makes as to whether it is legal or not, but relied on drinking a measured amount the night before and using it in the morning I drank 2 litres of 5% alcohol and at 8.am it registered alcohol, by 10am I was clear. Now that is near enough to the amount and the body getting rid of over those hours. I once tried that amount and also had a whisky (probably a double) and the reading was higher in the morning.

Based on how I use it it gives a reasonable indication as to do or dont drive. In fact my wife has gone to a night out and stopping over so she will use it in the morning and if it registers anything at all she will stay put until it is clear.

They only cost £2.50 (free postage)on ebay, the downside is they are from china so could take a couple of weeks for delivery.

Juco I think you have lower maximum levels in jockland, because of that I drink very little prior to leaving the big city to drive south to gods country.

Yes its approx half, so 1 pint would be risky if driving soon after consumption, its not an issue for me but that's why I bought it just in case, if it registers at all I wouldn't drive.

Re: Xmas dont drink & drive!

Drink driving, texting, phone calls, smoking and picking your nose should all be zero tolerance whilst on the road.

Re: Xmas dont drink & drive!

Why should you not drink and drive just at Christmas, you should not drink and drive at any time. I have been driving for nearly 50 years and never once have I had a drink and driven, those that do get all they deserve.

Re: Xmas dont drink & drive!

But Paddington the figures don't support your case

In U.K. Approx 14% of road deaths are caused by drunk drivers-so if we all got rat assed before driving, accidents would drop by 72%!!!

Cheers!!!

Unfortunately there are many who still do and this increases over the festive season, nights out, xmas parties etc.
