Malwarebytes

Tis indeed a puzzlement – every time I click something (and often when I don’t!) I get messages as …

(Different ports?)

I am told to ‘Manage Web Exclusions’ but can’t find anything in the help menus.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Re: Malwarebytes

Looks like it's warning you of uTorrent so just try clicking on the web exclusion link and hopefully that will set a RULE and stop the warnings.

Gee thanks – you sassed that one out pdq, I’ve stopped all downloads and no more warnings so it must be a Torrent problem.

You geeks make me feel like a right tw@t, but still a small problem … what is MB & where do I look for it?

If MB isn't in the list of programs from the Start menu, then you can find it in

Re: Malwarebytes

In the past week, three attempts have been made to infect my computer with ransomeware. Each time Malwarebytes has stopped it and quarantined the offending bug. After the first I did a full system back up in case the worst happens.

So, protect yourselves, and I suggest Malwarebytes (Paid for to get all the bells and whistles) is a good starting point if you don´t have such a prog already.

Re: Malwarebytes

Such attempts of an attack are prevalent when accessing certain websites.

Is it possible for you to hint at what particular websites to avoid please?

Just a further thought. Will system restore not automatically remove any virus, if using a restore point before infection?

I use Rollback RX Pro that takes regular system snapshots. This has saved my bacon on a number of occasions, a couple of times when the computer has been infected and times after I got the "Blue Screen of Death".

Just demonstrates that you should make regular backups, especially sensitive files like documents and photos. Also, I think it would be a good idea to have a contingency plan, just in case a virus does get through and/or you are unable to restore to an earlier date.

Re: Malwarebytes

I am not sure you can use a system restore to get past ransomeware. You will probably need something else to do that.
