Re: Is email obsolete?

As a regular Whatsapp user I have never tried viber. Email is not dead, just being used differently now. Recently whilst doing a large photo project for a charity I found myself communicating with people there via, email, Whatsapp, facebook messenger, sharing large numbers files via file sharing services but using the above if I just wanted to share 1 or two or they wanted to see one two shots. They all have their different strengths and will continue to exist alongside each other for some time yet. After all we still have postal services and I can't see them disappearing.

My life and work would be unlivable if I had to speak to everybody who craves an answer. With email I can take the time to formulate replies which hopefully make sense. Just like on this forum.

With email (which I use mostly) I am able to respond to or initiate a communication at MY leisure not someone else's.

Well said. 100% agree Rob.

How many times have we heard people say "I'll just look that up", who really cares what the capital of Venezuela is at this very minute!

Well if you were sat in a bar doing a quiz you may well care

Jaycey maybe mature folk like us should stick with the tried & tested and leave these newer annoyances to others, today its Viber and Watsapp etc. tomorrow it will be something else.

Yes, I will also stick to email thanks (unless it's my daughter. LOL.)

If Mrs May has her way it will not matter what any of us use , it will be routed directly through Government parsers.

I think that in his honour we should refer to them as " Orwells "

A word that works on so many levels.
