JC using words like that you should go and wash your mouth with soap and water.

And lets not forget good old windows 98, and it's not that long ago that the likes of LloydsTSB changed over to their current system which was a very long time after MS withdrew any help for 98. If it worked why change it I believe was their way of thinking, not forgetting having to re-train all the staff how to use XP (which is always the same) after any new version is released.

Re: Windows 10 again (sorry)

I think it really depends on what you use Windows for as to what version you are happy with. I could not be without 10 and could not go back to 7 or XP.

Many detractors do not Know what 10 is capable of, so can't judge fairly, some have no experience so just repeat what they heard or read, some others do know but they do not have a need for the 10 stuff so quite rightly shun it.

There is also the fact that if you already have Windows 7 for instance and you are happy with it why shell out for an upgrade. Downgrading from 10 to 7 I can't understand but...

I have met many detractors that when they were shown stuff they were ignorant of they ended up being a fan. Each to his own though.

Quick tip: If you have an old PC or Lappy I would not upgrade because you would probably be unimpressed with the experience, unless you upgrade the RAM at least.

Re: Windows 10 again (sorry)

Windows by the numbers: Windows 10 nears 'crossover' point with veteran Windows 7
Migration watch: If Windows 10 continues to gain users at its recent rate, it's likely to overtake Windows 7 this month.

After a September stumble, Windows 10 last month resumed its march toward replacing Windows 7 as the world's most popular operating system, an analytics vendor reported this week.

According to California-based Net Applications, Windows 10 added eight-tenths of a percentage point to its user share in October, reaching 38.3% of all PCs and 43.9% of those running Windows. (The second number is always larger than the first because Windows never powers all personal computers; in October, Windows ran 87.3% of the world's systems. The remainder ran macOS, Linux or Chrome OS.)

Re: Windows 10 again (sorry)

Yes XP was great, you could actually have some input on how it worked and where your stuff was filed. When I first got Win 7 those ruddy "libraries" did my head in trying to find where "it" had put things, so I just by-passed them. I partitioned my drive and set up my "filing cabinet" on the new partition, to suit me not Windows.

I wonder if that had anything to do with the faulty updates that windows continued to update systems with, to the point that people were just desperate to try anything that worked properly.
Personally I never allowed updates until at least a couple of weeks after being notified of any updates.

Re: Windows 10 again (sorry)

A lot of times people thought they have done something themselves but in reality it was a Windows update that bu99ered thing up.

Re: Windows 10 again (sorry)

For those that want to run Windows stuff there is an operating system that is free and works on low spec computers.

ReactOS is a Free operating system.

Our Features: Lightweight - 500MB HDD and 96MB RAM

From Scratch: This is not Linux mimicking Windows.

Styles: Classical and ReactOS Lautus styles.

From Games to Drivers: Open Source and Free.

Ready to Install...
Download our BootCD.

...or to Try.
Download our LiveCD. (no need to install)

Imagine running your favorite Windows applications and drivers in an open-source environment you can trust. That's ReactOS. Not just an Open but also a Free operating system. NOT Linux.
