Mouse

Can a mouse wear out? I am having so much trouble with this. It does not pick up immediately when I click on something. Sometimes I have to press really hard on the button, sometimes three or four times, before it works.

Anyone know? Thanks.

Re: Mouse

Yes, they can need to be replaced. If it is a wireless mouse then it may just be that the batteries are jiggered.

Re: Mouse

Sometimes they accumulate a lot of grunge/dust etc on the bottom as you slide it about over a period and that can impair their functionality, worth cleaning the bottom of it and see if it helps.

But don't put it in the washing machine or dishwasher

Re: Mouse

The mouse is wired, i.e. a plug in. I had already thought about dirt etc. but the bottom is clear.

I have just bought two mouses (mice?), one wireless and the other wired. So hopefully one of these will work.

As I recall, the last time I changed the mouse, (wireless to the current wired version) I just connected it and the computer picked up that there was something new and did whatever computers do so that the mouse became operational. I assume this has not changed?

Yes that should still apply.

I know this sounds crazy ,but I now use a wired mouse ,because the wi fi one I had kept doing same as Maisie's one ,yet when I checked the batteries they were fine ,but just out of curiosity I put in new ones and it worked perfect ,even though the old ones had plenty left in them . ???? Someone mentioned the word Static is sometimes the reason .The answer to the static problem was to unplug PC from mains and leave unplugged for a couple of hours to see if that was the problem in a wired or a wi fi mouse .
