CCleaner, clean up duplicates.

I decided to clean up my PC hard drive although not short of space even after 7 years I had used 214 GB and 717 GB free.

However as I do a lot of image and video editing I had duplicates all over the place, so I decided to use CCleaner to find the duplicates.

As a result I managed to reduce the GB used down to 122 and free space of 808 now.

So have managed to clean out 92 GB of crap from my PC.

I will now defragment it and then use MyDefrag to consolidate the hard drive and see if that speeds things up, not that I have any speed issues.

MyDefrag:
Quote:
A tool for disk defragmentation and Windows optimization.

Fast, low overhead, with many optimization strategies. Included are a set of easy to use scripts for endusers, a scripting engine for demanding users, a screensaver, and a combined Windows plus commandline version that can be scheduled by the Windows task scheduler or for use from administrator scripts.

MyDefrag (formerly JkDefrag) is able to handle USB sticks/disks and floppies.

Re: CCleaner, clean up duplicates.

Nice to know that there’s someone else that does video editing – maybe you have something you’d care to post on ‘Our Home Movies’ – I’m beyond lonely on there & given up due to apparent lack of interest

BTW I’m on Win 10 and am told that defragging is scheduled & automatic

Re: CCleaner, clean up duplicates.

Its mostly image editing with photoshop but I do have some video clips but nothing too clever as I use VLC for basic editing and the videos are with Nikon coolpix S7000 digital camera.

I will load a couple of the videos on here in a separate post.

I use win 7 and prefer not to have anything with windows to be automatic. don't trust them.

Re: CCleaner, clean up duplicates.

esb1841.............. I`ll stick with 7 until the PC dies on me, I have all my important stuff backed up externally and I still use xp on a couple of laptops and never had any issues.
Apart from a couple of forums most of my activity is off line.

CCleaner is a good product just be careful when you install it as it installs additional software such as an anti-virus software if you don't untick the box before installation

Couple of nice clips Juco.

I use a monopod for casual shooting and nothing wrong with your Nikon Coolpix S7000.

Flying Scotsman not going to break any records at that speed!

I did not realise how high my volume was until I looked at the first clip of Union of South Africa. It nearly blew me out of my chair!

Nice clips.

That section of rail is part of the steam preservation railway and has restricted speed due to the many pedestrian crossings to the beach areas.

The Union of South Africa only has a boiler certificate to March 2020 and is then likely to become a museum piece, it is privately owned and I think a boiler upgrade is around £1M.
