Facebook translation

About a week ago, the button allowing translations of posts was removed. Going through the settings showed everything was correct. Facebook's own help site is as much use as a chocolate fire guard, numerous people complaining about the same thing, but if you click on answers it brings you to someone else making the same complaint.
This happens on windows, ios.
Does anyone have a solution, please.

This is a very obvious work-around, but is tedious and time consuming compared to the "translate" button previously present on facebook.
I was hoping someone might know a quick fix that would re-enable the translation facility.

I think it depends on "If" the relevant setting has been activated by the other person, I regularly see a particular persons post in Turkish but NO translate but further posts do have the translate option, so it does not seem to be a across the board option of being disabled.

That's interesting, I had assumed it was across the board. I will check further.

Re: Facebook translation

I still have this problem, and, to answer oldfogy, it is across the board.
To recap, I have checked all translate options are correct, and I've tried setting them to different values, and then back to the correct settings, but the translate button remains obstinately "gone".
In desperation, I opened a new facebook account with a second email address (hotmail instead of ttmail), and the translate button was present and working. All translation settings are identical on both accounts.
I also tried temporarily disabling the account and re-enabling, but no effect.
I suppose I could download all the content, close the account, and then start one again and enter the content, but I am reluctant to do this without knowing why and how the translate function was removed in the first place as presumably it could happen again.
Has anyone got any ideas?

Re: Facebook translation

Cant you have translate open alongside the FB page? It's easy to copy across with 2 windows open.

Of course, but I would prefer to restore the advertised translation facility on Facebook.

Re: Facebook translation

It's back!
2 days ago, the translation button reappeared, and is working normally. Nothing I did, and as far as I know, it did not coincide with any automatic updates.
Nice to have it back, but I would have liked to know the reason for its disappearance and subsequent reappearance.
