Mushy Peas

If any of you living in Turkey have a yearning for mushy peas, this is how to make them.

Go to either Kipa or Metro and find a packet of dried peas.

Put as many peas that you want in a large bowl and cover with water, either hot, cold or warm. Add a teaspoon of bi-carb and soak over night.
Next day, wash put into saucepan cover with water, add small amount of bi-carb, teaspoon of salt and same of suger if you want it. Bring to boil and stir regularly, simmer until they look like mushy peas. It may be necessary to add more water.

Enjoy.

never mind Rose..sarcasm is the lowest form of wit...
thats a good recipe..i love mushy peas with vinegar.
Turks also soak and cook nohut/chick peas with bicarb to soften them more.

Re: Mushy Peas

I did read a few weeks back that Mushy peas were being banned in the Uk because of some of the ingredients in production.
My wife will be pleased with this recipe as she just loves mushy peas.

Re: Mushy Peas

Oh DEAR! I posted a frivolous contribution to a serious thread, "Mushy Peas". My apologies, I should have started a new thread "Mashed Potatoes" perhaps?
I thought that northerners had a sense of humour?
