Some ingredients you cant get in Turkey....

I thought this might be a good idea for a "sticky" post where we can add to as a list of ingredients that in the UK are available everyday but in Turkey just plain unavailable or very difficult to source.

That way, members can bring some over and stock their Turkish kitchen (and send us poor unfortunates a bit too)

To start the list off, one of the main herbs I miss is fresh coriander... an essential ingredient in curries and anything Italian, the powder variety just doesnt cut the chase. You can grow your own by all means, but I suggest you bring a packet of seeds over as again, good seeds are hard to find! Better still bring one of those Tesco herb garden variety packs and start off your own patch in the garden.

Worcester Sauce and Oregano I miss. I'm hoping my daughter will bring some with her next month.
Thanks, Merv. The seed pack idea is a good one

Worcester Sauce

Available at most larger Migros Tricia, albeit at a premium price.

If she does bring some over - get her to transfer it to a plastic bottle in case of in-flight breakage.
