Re: what did you have tonight

A small topside joint , roast 'arsenips and potato , cauliflower and gravy.

Danone light yogurt.

Thanks for the heads up Hills , i am sure your culinary delights are more than appreciated at home , maybe the pasta maker will be a relative of my bread maker , spoken of but rarely seen.

Thanks

Steve

So very sorry to hear of your problems, I looked after my parents for many years, it is so difficult ... as for BT, what's new, although that is no consolation ...
Considering your day, the dinner sounded great

Lunch, home-made leek, potato and rocket soup, with croutons
Dinner, bream stuffed with fennel and grapefruit baked in the oven, with pototoes and broccoli, fish quite boney although flesh was succulent, still prefer good old cod ...
Prepared shin beef and ale casserole for tomorrow, seems nice enough ...

Wish I'd bought that one, then I could have returned it for them to re-sell lol ! Back to last night - cooked another of those excellent Morrison's chicken crowns (under 3.00) cooked in a large dish with lots of roast vegetables for him, including roast beetroot, potatoes and onions covered in breadcrumbs mixed with parmasen cheese. I had celeriac and carrot mash with a good squeeze of lemon juice and oregano and some good old sprouts. All good.
How do you do the roast veg, mine are never very good - seem dry, maybe breadcrumb topping would help ... when do you put it on - at the end
Thanks!

The crown of Morrison's chicken took 90 mins at 190. I arranged all the veg around the chicken with plenty of oil and herbs (most won't get crispy as some of them were carrots/courgettes/cauliflower etc. The breadcrumbs and parmasen were put on the potatoes and the cut side of the onion (pushed down not sprinkled) before the dish went into the oven and they get lovely and brown and crispy. Let's know how you get on next time !

Re: what did you have tonight

M & S pork sausages taken out of their skins and mixed with chopped salted cashews, rosemary, grated Cox's apple. Fried in butter and then put into a sauce of onions, garlic and celery with double cream to finish off the cooking. This was great BUT we decided to make tagliatelle to go with it. He said the pasta machine was a pain in the arse !! Eventually we managed to make some and dried it on the clothes horse. I cooked it and He refused to eat it !! Had to cook pre made shop bought instead, just to keep the peace. Don't buy a pasta maker if you want harmony in the kitchen and a peaceful marriage !!The machine can't be washed in water either - just a paint brush to clean it !

Re: what did you have tonight

Last night was spicy lamb steaks, the meat from Ali, the spice was mainly Harisa served with a tabouleh and a tin of ready cooked grilled aubergine in tomato sauce and a full red pepper roasted, peeled, sliced and seasoned in an olive oil dressing. All in all first class, some wine would have gone well with it, but the answer was no.
There really is some good food on this hairy dieters diet.

Re: what did you have tonight

A first for me , a lasagne , minced steak in tomato and sofrito , the white sauce was a calorie friendly two egg , fat free yogurt and a spoonful Dijon mustard sauce. Layered with the pasta sheets , Topped with low fat cheese and a spoonful of parmesan for flavour.

Worked out very tasty.

Zero syns for you SW fans.
