Please can anyone tell me if you can buy caster suger in the Altinkum area as I can't seem to find any ...or maybe it comes under another name.

Linda like you, I have tried everywhere, with no success.
I bought some to take with me, but I don't think I will be able to fit it in. I am already overwieght, so some things will have to come out of the case. The problem is, choosing what can be left behind Lol.

if i need caster suger ,i just put it in the blender ,if i need icing sugar ,i do the same(except a bit longer) then pass through a fine sieve...

I agree about caster sugar, but I now buy icing sugar from a Turkish Delight Factory. Much better than the boxes of Poudre Seker & I only pay 3tl per kilo!

Yes, you are all right about the grinding of granulated sugar. I usually put an amount onto a large sheet of greasproof paper, fold it over and use a rolling pin on it.
Think it might be time to invest in a blender!!

Thank-you all I did grind some down for the shortbread last week but I could still taste the sugar if you know what I mean I obviously never ground down hard enough.........like you say Mary time to invest in a blender....

one of the good things i did before leaving the uk) was joining a catolouge company (grafton i think it was ) ..they wre offering free gifts if you sent away for one of their books ( i neve actually bought a thing)..i got a blender with all the attachments ..still have it 5 years on..also i got a portable B/W tv ..binned that...
