Kids want custard..!

I never miss anything foodwise from the UK, but after the recent cooler weather the kids are asking for custard - does anyone know anywhere in or around Bodrum that stocks imported foodstuffs like this?

Thanks

Re: Kids want custard..!

Have you tried making home made custard? My mum used to make it with cornflour. Failing that you could make a baked egged custard with eggs and milk.

Re: Kids want custard..!

Just searching custard recipes now....egg custard doesnt hit the spot unfortunately (although my husband loves it). We lived in England when the boys were very small and they loved sponge & custard (ambrosia tins). Just wanted to find some if i could. Thanks

Re: Kids want custard..!

In a very recent post Sleepy said he knew a shop in Bebek that sold Bird's. Why don't you PM him and ask him to mail you a tin? He seems a nice enough chap and it wouldnt hurt to try!
That's if you can't find any in Bodrum of course!
Sorry - this is the best I can do but I am trying

Try the corner shop in Gumbet - they stock almost everything - but not cheap

Re: Kids want custard..!

Here in Marmaris we can get Birds custard powder and the ready made Ambrosia dairy custard so am sure some of the shops in Bodrum must stock it.

Re: Kids want custard..!

I think The Corner Shop in Bodrum sometimes have drums of Birds custard powder, it is along the Marina road from Bodrum to Gumbet, take the right fork just before the Military Camp and it is just on the right. Failing that, I have a couple of packets of instant custard just made with boiling water that you would be welcome to have as a treat for your children. PM me if you would like, you wouuld have to fetch from Gumbet. Margaret

Re: Kids want custard..!

we here in kusadasi have a sort of aladdins cave type shop that sell birds custard powder and a host of other ex-pat wants--when i ran out of birds i used some of that sachet pudding mix in the vaniilya flavour--they also do banana-sell it everywhere

Re: Kids want custard..!

Have you tried that shop in Bar Street at the end of the Mandalinci shops (market end not sea end)? Also I think the supermarket in the Marina sell custard but everything in there is quite expensive.

Re: Kids want custard..!

Keskul- Turkey version of custard. You can get it in every supermarket, just add a little more liquid than it says on the packet to make it more of a custard consistency. It is usually in with all the dry cake mix section.
