Bakery question

I want to use margarine instead of butter when I go home and make fairy cakes for mum. Question: which brand is the best? Availability no problem as I'll be in the UK.

Re: Bakery question

Hi. You can't buy margarine anymore. I use Clover for baking now.

Wink Re: Bakery question

I told her to say that !

Apparently another good margarine substitute in biscuits and cakes is seven-eighths of a cup of vegetable oil with a teaspoon of salt, for every one cup of margarine.

Re: Bakery question

ugh i would never reccomend using margarine as a substitute... but as someone said, stork is good but thats only cos its quite butter-like... using margering in baking gives me a sickening feeling when i taste it!

Re: Bakery question

Stick with the butter for taste and it's natural. Margerine is full of chemicals. I know a lot of people use Stork though if you must

Re: Bakery question

Zuber and Lyndsey; I agree that marge tastes disgusting but mum is elderly and has high cholesterol. I seem to remember there's one that's made of olive oil or has olive oil in it.
And thanks everyone for your input
