Fat Free Bread Pudding

For all you health conscious people out there, here is a recipe for a fat free bread pudding, I have cooked this many times now and it is very hard to tell the difference between one that has been made with lard or other fats.

Ingredients:

1 loaf ( I use an ordinary ekmek, to make even healthier, use brown bread )
Sultanas – I use as many as I feel like, other dried fruit can also be used
4 tablespoons of sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 egg
Milk

Method:

Soak the bread in cold water for about 1 hour, squeeze out residue water and mash up, add all the other ingredients, except the milk, give a good mix and then add enough milk to make dough sticky.

Place the mixture in a baking tin and cook in the oven on 170 degrees for about 1 hour, could be more, could be less, depending on these Turkish cookers, stick a knife in the middle, if it comes out clean them it’s cooked, if the top is getting too brown then cover with greaseproof paper to avoid burning.

Happy Eating !

Re: Fat Free Bread Pudding

I love bread pudding but my husband does not unfortunately. Mind you I have never used fat in my recipe.

''Fat free bread pudding'' sounds almost as disgusting as 'Alcohol-free ale'

Re: Fat Free Bread Pudding

not very often i have surplus ekmek --usually eat it all--so i save the ends in a bag in the freezer till i ve got enough for a bread pudding--and if you look online theres loads of different ones--some with fruit--chocolate ones or savoury ones--ive done a couple of great savoury ones --going to try a chocolate one next
