We bought some over from UK in the summer for new year. Think you can get it down our way but not sure for Izmir.

Possibly but I doubt it. Greek island as Kev says your best bet.

Re: Christmas Ham

Off to Chios for the day from Cesme for you. You can park foc on the road outside Cesme port (it's at the far end from Izmir direction) you should come off the motorway and all but drive into it.

In Chios turn left off the ferry and walk along the harbour road passing the bus station on your rhs and then head right; only one street back you'll find a butchers, with all the pork and UK type foodstuffs.

Some people buy duty free on the way out and back; leaving it on the boat whilst shopping.

You can book on-line, heres the link; ERTÜRK LINES - Cesme - Ferryboat - Sakız Adası - Chios - Mykonos - Greek Islands . Or just roll up and look for the ticket window in the corner of the building.

Re: Christmas Ham

Hi LittleLee,

I will ask a friend if there's anywhere to get a ham for xmas in Izmir, but if you're considering the trip to Chios (good idea!) then travel with this company as it's 20 Euro cheaper - 9 Euro return. They have a full day return on Wednesdays, but check online before you plan.

Egebirlik

You may want to advertise your trip (if you go) on the Izmir forum, in case any other members want to go - I may even consider coming, if you want the company!

The supermarkets are very good in Chios and you can buy cheap wine, spirits, pork products and other food stuffs that will remind you of home - also, at this time of the year they have their Christmas decorations up and there are quite a few shops which sell Christmas bits too.
