British Food - what's your fav dish?

In another thread a forum member said she was looking for ingredients to make lasagne as she was making British food for her Turkish friends which made me smile though I'm not sure she meant it to come over like that.

I've done it myself - cooked for my inlaws - and done things like a full Xmas lunch or glorified Sunday lunch. But what would you cook to give a Turk a taste of real British food as opposed to the many recipes we drum up borrowed from every culture in the world?

I am struggling to think of any meal I cook regularly that I would call British

Bacon loin steak, with a top of thinly sliced liver in gravy served with onions and champ - blooming lovely.

Re: British Food - what's your fav dish?

My mother and father-in-law love my lamb shanks slowly cooked in the oven with mushrooms and onions (no red wine when it's for them ).

Although it's not British, I did recently make them crispy chicken in honey and chilli sauce plus egg fried rice. They didn't live a crumb on their plates
