Question Cream cheese for Cheesecake

Hi everyone. I've been wanting to bake cream cheese but the cheese section at the grocery is just too challenging. What is cream cheese for cheese cake here? Can i use Labne?

Thanks

Re: Cream cheese for Cheesecake

Hi, I've used labne for non baked cheese cake and for frosting for carrot cake. Don't know about baked cheese cake though. I do hope someone has tried it, then I'll know if it's ok to use. Good luck.

I use a mixture of Labne and Kaymak - both from Bim - for cheesecake.

Hi, Val. Its been a while since the last time I was here.
Just an update bout my bake cheesecake, it was a failure. Lol! No not because of labne, i forgot to put some needed ingredient. Shame :-p
But i baked a carrot cake muffin with a surprise cream cheese filling. Friends always requesting for it.
Thanks again.

Re: Cream cheese for Cheesecake

Hi Bibigun

Strangely enough I bought a small container of Cream Cheese in Migros at FCC.

It was in the small chilled section where they keep the sweets/puddings beside the fresh bread.

It is a small clear plastic tube about the size of 1/2lb of butter, pure white with a frothy topping....... approx 7.50 lira.

Tasted really nice on the small walnut encased pastries covered in honey.

Hope someone manages to pop their head in to find the name in Turkish for you.

Re: Cream cheese for Cheesecake

I would like to make a cheese cake this week. If I use a mixture of Labne & Kaymak, as has been suggested, do I need to add sugar & do I have to bake it ? I would rather mix it & put in the fridge without having to cook it. Thanks for your replies.
