Strawberry jam - pectin

We are having trouble getting our strawberry jam to thicken. Tried lemon juice but no luck. Can you get pectin here or is there something else available that will do the job?

Re: Strawberry jam - pectin

for any jams I always use the same amount of fruit and sugar..never had a problem getting it thick ..try reducing it a bit longer..

Re: Strawberry jam - pectin

I used to use recyalyp (think the spelling is wrong). This is available from all supermarkets.

don't think you can get pectin, we often have to take it out for friends.

sorry for back to back;

I'm sure linsey uses a couple of apples in strawberry jam for the natural pectin

Just boil it for longer, I find that the rebel yap gives a really horrible taste to the jam.
