Chips

When we are in our apartment in Turkey, we sometimes miss home made chips, but dont really want that deep fried smell. We have considered an Actifry or even deep fat fryer, bit they are expensive for the few times we would use it, so have discovered a method for home made oven chips that works well.

1. Cut your chips as normal

2. Put them in a pan of cold water and bring to the boil

3. Pre heat the oven to the highest setting.

4. Drain the chips and pour on enough oil to coat them well and season

5. Put them on an oven tray in a single layer and separate them

6. Bake for 20 mins or so.

7. Eat

Tamam, lovely home baked oven chips.

Re: Chips

Lovely, my wife makes these often. You can sprinkle chilli, black pepper, mixed herbs etc, etc, whatever you like to change the flavour.

Re: Chips

I know Actifry's are quite expensive out here but we brought one out with us (Amazon are pretty cheap). Marvellous things! My wife cooks so many things in it, apart from the obvious chips and roast spuds.

Re: Chips

Must try that method next time we are out to our apt. in Yalikavak. On the occasions that we decide to have chips, what we do is, we cook them on a two plate hob that we bought in Metro but, it is placed on a table outside in our small balcony off our kitchen. perfectly safe and the odours evaporating in the air.

Re: Chips

What is the Slimming World chips technique?

Last year I bough a new deep fat fryer after not having one in the house for about 20 years. And sure enough we, sorry I, was using it 3 or 4 times a week with the resulting accumulation of kilos.Having no will power the only solution was to chuck it in the bin, boy do I miss my chips but not the bulge.
