Rice?

Hi, can anyone please tell me if there is an equivalent turkish version of Easy Cook Rice?
I know in the UK my wife gets the likes of Tesco Easy Cook Rice or similar, basically boil a pan of water, throw in the rice, simmer for 25 mins and voila!
I also know she's tried many times to cook turkish rice but usually it ends up filling the cracks in my garden wall so any suggestions on the name of a packet of "quick & easy" turkish rice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

Re: Rice?

Far too complicated! buy an electric rice cooker, throw everything in, switch it on, and go away. It will cook any rice perfectly, keep it warm until you are ready, and never fail. You can even do things like rice pudding on those that have a program menu (and for the pedantic, yes it is "program" not programme in the context of computers and the like). no need to spend a lot, cheap and cheerful will work fine.

Re: Rice?

We never had a problem with any rice in Turkey. Water, Salt, Stock Cube, Rice, as soon as the water is gone usually approx 15/20 mins cooked perfectly.Pretty much as the same here in the UK.

Re: Rice?

Love Baldo rice in Turkey, I find it is better for a good wash and an hours drain before cooking.

Re: Rice?

In India i was taught ot wash rice five time , just rinse and chuck the water each pass .

Then 10 minutes rolling boil , strain and cover with a tea towel for 10 minutes for the rice to swell . I use a tupperware rice bowl , strains and tempers the rice after the boil.

For saffron rice i use less water and cook to the full absorption method . But with a teaspoon of oil .
