That's interesting Spurs, must be a regional thing

In all my time in Turkey I ran into less than a dozen Turks in our local pubs

Ah, I never drank in local pubs...........

I have always advised people on here, if your going to live in Turkey then find the places where the "professional" Turks socialise. We used to enjoy the "pubs" in Izmir, I would be interested to know if that law is active there because on a hot summers night just about everyone was drinking outside.

Just to add, the nine years I lived in Turkey for, I saw about three well oiled Brits & about the same when it came to Turks/Kurds.

Re: Alcohol ban in Antalya!

Our nice little coffee/wine bar in Datca had to remove tables from the walkway along the back of the beach last year and resorted to serving alcohol in cups.

There's an article in today's Hurriyet covering this 'alcohol control'.

Re: Alcohol ban in Antalya!

When we had the hotel in Blackpool there were three earners, booze, fruit machines & pool table. We obviously had rooms & food but the big bucks came from the above three.
Those three go glass in hand so to speak :-)

Yes, the bar Mustafapaşa always served beer in mugs - known as Sinasos çay (Sinasos being the name for Mustafapaşa before the expulsion of the Rums)

Re: Alcohol ban in Antalya!

I assume we can still buy wine etc. in Migros and other supermarkets ? As for banning alcohol in the streets in the U.K. There is a ban here in Worthing because of drunks sitting in the shelters along the seafront. They are a menace and not nice to see. What do our police do ? Absolutely nothing. I've seen our police talking and joking with them and then walking away and leaving them to it. Our police are just not strict enough.
