Re: Nightmare holiday

40 years ago, our neighbours explained to their Polish cleaning woman that they were going on holiday and tried to explain to her what Butlin's holiday camps were like. She interrupted them, I know all about it, I've been in the camps too. However much they desperately tried to her how jolly it was and how everyone enjoyed it, she would mutter darkly, yes, yes, konzentration konmpink!

Re: Nightmare holiday

Package holidays!!!
Coach trips, welcome meetings, meal sittings and diabolical entertainment.
Was dragged up on stage once (screaming) was put in a silly hat whilst they tried to teach me to ride a uni cycle , never again.

Re: Nightmare holiday

Stayed in a hotel with my wife & daughter some years back in Turkey, families mainly but the biggest pain was the owners 10 year old daughter, she was a bloody menace but one of those situations where everyone smiled whilst she lobbed buckets of water over people relaxing by the pool.. Top n tail was everyone wanted to drown the little sh*te.

Same holiday:

One family, Mom, Dad & son who unfortunately had down syndrome, they came from the airport on the same coach as us & stayed in the same hotel. Age wise the son could've been 19 or 29.

Over the first couple of days he was 24/7 attention, either playing pool with his Dad or in the pool with him, my wife pointed out that the Dad looked knackered & it wouldn't hurt me to give the lad a few games of pool............like a mug I did.

What a disaster. First game & I beat the lad, he looked me straight in the eyes from across the pool table whilst he seemed to be trying to strangle the pool cue & shouted real loud CHEAT. I would say about 30 people in the hotel at the scene ALL stopped what they were doing & stared at me with daggers, no doubt people in the adjoining hotels done the same, thats how loud it was. The lads Dad came rushing over, turns out in their rules the lad always gets to pot the black. Needless to say I DONT play under those rules. It all calmed down, I went over to sit with the wife & daughter, the daughter sideswiped me with, "cant believe you wouldn't let a down syndrome lad beat you".

It never ended there.

For the next 10 days every time that lad saw me he shouted CHEAT, got to the stage when my wife, daughter & I were going out, the wife would say, "you walk through the bar & wait outside for us", couldn't get out of the place without walking through the bar and he was always there, he would shout CHEAT & I would give one of them smiles. My wife & daughter saw sense & started to walk through the bar with me, basically because I said to my wife, "if he calls me that again, I will drop him where he stands" AND NO I wouldn't have done that, but the feeling was like walking "The Green Mile" every night.

I can only wish the lad well but don't be knocking my door to play pool because I will pot the black.

Re: Nightmare holiday

I know I shouldn't have but I near died laughing at that!!!

Though I reckon you shouldn't have made the lad pay the 20 wager on the game!!!!!

As the old saying goes- No good deed goes unpunished!!!!
