Re: Living abroad

So I moved to South Lanark just over a week ago love the house, love the area, in fact a perfect fit for us, albeit my young lady is still in the South until Christmas, today I had my first wake up call, up early and at Aldi for 8 30 am picked up my bits and went to the wine aisle for 6 bottles, hot to the check out to be told can’t sell you them until 10 am not sure the method in the madness but I went home and ordered online for delivery.

Not understanding the logic on that one !

Re: Living abroad

I believe it was brought in a few years back to curb early morning drinking. You may also have noticed alcohol (per unit) is also more expensive in Scotland, another bird brained idea to curb drinking from the Scottish parliament.

Quote:
We’ve provided the details above for information purposes only, to enhance your experience of the Aldi website. We’ve tried our best to make sure everything is accurate, but you should always read the label before consuming or using the product. Prices and “Alcohol by Volume” or “ABV” measurements may be different in stores in Scotland due to minimum unit pricing laws.
A 2L bottle of cider 5% went from £1.99 to around £5!

Quote:
Ministers said the idea was to target booze that attracted problem drinkers.

They were concerned that a two-litre bottle of strong cider (7.5 abv), which contained more than the weekly recommended limit for alcohol (14 units), could be bought for as little as £2.50.

It will now cost at least £7.50.

I was aware of that, the big ASDA store at Carlisle does a roaring trade with both passing Scots and those on booze cruises down the M74 12 litre bottles of Gin alone would save £48 , I believe the same thing happens at Berwick, well worth clubbing together and filling up.

Re: Living abroad

I found that no alcohol before 10 am when we were having a barbeque
I'd gone to Aldi early , as i was ferrying people later on

Incidentally, went to see friends down in Gumusluk Wednesday , enjoyed the day out and ended up in Yalikavak, had lunch in J Joe's
The harbour reminded me of Maveshehir and boy is Gumsuluk hilly !!

I take it the J in jump is pronounced in the same way as the J in Jose, so I look forward to it.

Cheers
