Living abroad

Well today marks 4 weeks in our new country

Ireland's a distant memory although I bet locals can sill detect a trace of Irish accent in my dulcet tones

For those of you who moved ft to Turkey or elsewhere abroad - how long was it before it felt like your real home?

Re: Living abroad

I honestly don't have ridiculous expectations and am happy with a comfortable easy lifestyle , Kath and myself have always been able to adapt
The couple who lived next door to us seldom made friends when they went on holiday , we did all the time as we are easy going
The red tape is a challenge , but we just get on with it ............I can't at the moment envisage me ever returning to the UK, at least I don't have to have a planner for which colour bins I have to drag out Monday mornings (we were up to 4 different bins when I left) and got a letter posted saying we would be fined because someone had walked past and put a lolly wrapper in one of our bins ....pathetic

You can take the Boy out of Wales, but you can never take Wales out of the Boy.

But, Bulgaria does come a very close second..

Ted your head would explode here re bin system!!!

6 different colours 5 different col!ecting days and in some local areas the bins are" chipped" for accurate recording and enforcement

Re: Living abroad

Been overseas since 1983, the only place I don't feel at home is the UK. It was only a few years after decimalisation that I left, never lived there since. Yes there is a lot of red tape here but generally a solution can be found. Back to the bin thing there are the same colour bins at my mothers and brothers, 7 miles apart in the same borough council, but they stand for different things, madness.
