New passports

We will shortly be getting our new passports so hoping someone can help with a few questions
1. Who do we have to notify that we have new passports
2.Seeing as we wil not have an entry stamp in them , does that mean that we might have some bother if we want to leave Turkey
3. How do I stand if I wanted to hire a car (re last entry stamp)
TIA

Re: New passports

We recently got new passports Ted, we just carried our old one around, which was needed when we went one holiday as we were asked for it at passport control. We didnt need to notify anyone, though when we sold our house recently we gave them copies of our old passports as well as the new ones as they house deeds had the old passport details on it. xx

Re: New passports

I renewed mine earlier this year, and didn't have an exit stamp, so took both of them when I renewed my RP.

Re: New passports

We renewed ours last year . We went to the goc no one was interested . The only response we got was in England when we went to see the family , they just said and how long are you stopping , my response was just as quick what's it to do with you .

Re: New passports

Assuming you have residence permits, you also need to register your new passports with a GOC office. Last year you could just walk into the office without appointment, and the process took about 5 minutes. When I did mine, a few weeks ago, the procedure had changed (surprise, surprise!). You now have to provide 2 biometric photos, provide photocopies of your old passport (your last entry stamp page and photo page), photocopy of your new passport (photo page) also photocopies of both sides of your residence permit, and fill in the form they provide.
If you use the Mugla GOC there is a cafe that does photocopies about 50 metres along the road.

Re: New passports

Gave mine to the wife who went back to the UK for a break (we had UK passport forms with us in Turkey). She sent it off when in the UK, new one/old one came back & she brought them both back to me.

Food for thought for some. PO & grab a few renewal forms to take out to Turkey, if not for yourself but for others.

When my new passport arrived, my 'fixer' rang the GOC office in Mugla, and was told that as I would be renewing my RP in July there was no need to go until then, and to take both passports. When I went, 13th July, after my RP was processed I was then directed to the next office where a (very nice!) policeman took my fingerprints and 3 mug shots - full face and both sides. He assured me this wouldn't have to be done again at renewal. No surprise, Turks all have to change to the new style Kimlik, and also have to give fingerprints and mug shots.
