Re: Want to move to gulluk

Turkey has so many beautiful places it would be a shame not to check a few of them out - enjoying each one for a few weeks.... probably you can find the short term rentals at reasonable rates from people on this forum...

Re: Want to move to gulluk

We love gulluk.met lots of owners there from various sites and they too adore the relaxed ambience.the locals are great.cant help you enough .cant say the traffic was ever a problem imho..the new dual carriageway in to the town is fantastic..as for noise from aircrafts it's simply not an issue at all.
That's simply our opinion.

Re: Want to move to gulluk

Hi,

We've just returned, came back in late November. Lovely during the day but chilly in the evening, needed heating on. It was out of season when we left & a lot of the bars etc. were closing down. Still a nice place to be. I have never heard the planes from the airport.

Good Luck.

Re: Want to move to gulluk

We sold both our properties late 2016. The first an apartment at Sunset, the second a villa at Olive Tree.
The sunset apartment was only ever rented out eventually and the villa was our base for great family holidays over 10 years.
We had always said that we would review our options at 10 years from first buying in Turkey and when we did we found a unique British buyer with cash who had just sold his place a few miles out of Gulluk and wanted to be on our complex.
It was a case of the right person at the right time paying our asking price.
The apartment went to a Turk at a drop in price but one which we had anticipated.
At this point most former owners go negative and say they are glad to be out and to some extent we could do the same as things do change and not always for the better.
However, we loved the place while we were there as owners, we have been back in 2017 as renters and I will be returning again this year as we formed some great friendships, with Turks and Brits and it is always good to rekindle them.
The place does not seem the same as a renter but that is par for the course.
I can't complain in the slightest about a great 10 years, its just that we are not held to one place anymore and as any owner will tell you, there are tasks to be done every year with associated costs which suddenly aren't your problem as a renter.
The town is still as friendly as it always was 11 years ago, it has improvements and I have still never heard a plane taking off or landing from the town or at Olive Tree or Sunset.
As far as mozzies go. When they are out use repellent and I am sure it is not an isolated problem to Gulluk.
Would I recommend anyone buying there?.... Yes but after due diligence, a lot of looking round and a stay of at least a couple of months.
We were a bi-product of the Parador set up and landed on our feet at Olive Tree without ever seeing the place until the first stage payment had been paid, then caught out at Sunset with the poor condition of the dirt track that cannot be called a road.
Move there by all means but only after a lot of research.

Re: Want to move to gulluk

Hi Gary, good to see that you are still coming back to Gulluk. Sunset Apartments, have now revoked Mavi, and gone self managed. We have now got a new road, using the original access to Oba. Electricity is now at last being transferred to our own names.

Hi Sandy.
Great news. Enjoy. It's been a long time coming but well worth it.
Gary.
