Dolmus refused to stop!!!!!

Earlier this week the dolmus ignored our requests to stop to let us on. We are a family of 4 with two girls (ages 7 and 10). The next day a dolmus refused to stop for my mother by hereself and the day after that again my mother had the same occurance whilst trying to board with our children.

Any one else been having these problems...it has never been an issue in previous years?

Re: Dolmus refused to stop!!!!!

i think that there are new laws being applied...i know that's true in Alanya...they will now only stop at a recognized dolmuş stop.
the privately owned dolmuş have now been phased out and all the local councils are running their own transport.

Well I never thought I'd see the day!! Oh thats it now then, from now on they will all be miserable, never have change, go out of their way to find puddles to splash us with, and wait until you have ran 50 yards to catch it before driving away.

Thats a bummer. I really like setting off to walk somewhere, getting all hot and stickly, hearing a dolmush peeping its horn and getting on. I must admit some people do have it stopping every few yards to get on and off.

Re: Dolmus refused to stop!!!!!

actually i prefer the proper little belediye buses..the private dolmuş that used to run late at night in Alanya were getting a really bad name..women weren't safe..!!..but its been a few years now that they ere stopped.every little municipality has its own buses round here now and they give great service.....on the long coast road where theres a fair distance between stops..they will pick you up though.

Re: Dolmus refused to stop!!!!!

I didnt know there was proper stops, I thought they were all hop on hop off services. If it changes it will be a real shame, that was probably one of the little things I loved about walking around Turkey, knowing you can hail a bus when you get hot or tired!

Re: Dolmus refused to stop!!!!!

Me and my wife always said what a great little system the Dolmus service is.
Cheap (ish) and frequent.
How they wait for you and not drive off.
Council run service? Heaven help us!!!
They always have to mess with things...
