Obviously this might just be a wording issue, but why was the deposit paid to another neighbour? (that's the way I read it)
Or do you mean you spoke to one neighbour but it is another neighbour who paid you the deposit as it is the other neighbour who is going to buy the property?

Edit:
gayrimenkul satış vaadi anlaşması = real estate promise to sell agreement

And make sure you point out that all and any deposit is none refundable, as it will be used towards the cost of your flight and any possible accommodation.

PS:
Don't forget to pay your utility bills and get back any ''deposits you will have paid''.

Re: Tapu urgent help

I spoke to one neighbour who is Turkish but had restaurants in London so speaks good English, he told me about his neighbour, whom had said if I was ever interested in selling he would be interested, 15 minutes later he was viewing with a a price agreed and a deposit given to me the next morning.

It may be we have sold slightly cheap, but we are very happy with the price agreed (in sterling)

Sounds good and I hope all goes through without any hic-ups, but please do be careful, where money and especially Turkey are concerned they sometimes 'Take no prisoners but will take your money knowing that there is not a lot you can do about it'

Re: Tapu urgent help

Just to update and thank everyone who replied.

Just back after 5 day visit to conclude sale, prior to going we had confirmation from the Tapu office manager that Tapus are only being proceeded which involves foreigners. Process was quick and easy, it would have all been done on the Monday except for a computer system problem, so had to return Tuesday. Signed over deeds and received a backpack full of sterling notes (little bit scary having to walk back out with that much money), paid into ING bank and was in our UK account by the evening.

We will miss having a villa in Turkey as over the last 12 years we have met and made friends with many lovely Turkish people. We were fortunate to buy on a well run site that was in a great location that matured really well.

It will be sad to not plan our next visit and will miss just sitting with a drink and admiring the views, but for a number of reasons it felt the time was right for us to sell and pleased we were able do it so quickly, only a couple of weeks start to finish.

Wish everyone all the best for the future in what will always remain to us a very special place.

Re: Tapu urgent help

Make sure you have all your paperwork as like me if the sale was more than 10,000 euros your UK bank informs the tax authorities and they will want to know where the money came from did you make a capital gain and are you liable for UK tax

Re: Tapu urgent help

We have kept many receipts to sort out the capital gains tax during self assessment time. Luckily property in joint names, so less to pay.
