Re: S.S. Sankop Sanitcilar Sitesi, Turkbuku

Hi Mark and Sue
Doom and gloom here re selling property..............but with sunshine ! So that makes things a lot better !
We are doing more renovation, repair and maintenance work than selling.
If you can find any brains inside this head of mine , you are welcome to pick them anytime..............

Hi there Angie & Lynne,

Sorry not to have replied earlier, but we've been so busy recently that we've had no time to get online!

Lynne, I'm sure that at least some of the buyers will return with the new season. Obviously the credit crunch is still leading to folk keeping their wallets in their back pockets, but all reports here are still positive about investing in property in Turkey as opposed to anywhere else. (Notwithstanding the tricky issue of now being unable to set up inactive Turkish companies to purchase in restricted areas, of course).

Angie, we've not bumped into Charlie & Tina or Diane, but it's good to know that there are a few more folk out there who have experienced the sometimes confusing process of buying at Sankop - and come through unscathed to the other side! We very much look forward to meeting all of you at some point. Thanks for the PM regarding the report. If it's OK I'll send you one to discuss obtaining one.

Cheers

Mark & Sue

as said ,dont worry too much as you will be able to form a complex commitee [as we have ] it means some people having to get involved ,i am on commitee and as i am retired it is easy for me to e/mail and generally keep in touch with whats going on at complex .it took a while to sort out but we seem to keeping a grip on things ,mind you we are a all brit irish complex so no language problems . good luck .

I went to San Kop last Friday, I dont remember there being a drop down barrier last time I went there at the security gate. Is that new ?
Oh boy, when we checked the property a cat (?) had got trapped inside the house and had pooed and thrown up everywhere. Beds sofa floors.....everywhere. Came in through the roof terrace where the wind had broken the door glass.Looks like someone had let it out by smashing a kitchen window.I hate sending bad news to people !

Hi Biggles, Lynne & Angie,

What is it with cats? They're bright enough to get into your house but too dim to get out!

Hope the owners didn't suffer too much damage (or the cat for that matter). I'm glad, in a way, that our place is still in need of so much work - perhaps toughened glass windows should be our next priority?

Biggles, don't know how feasible it'll be to become too involved in a committee at SanKop, as I understand it's largely a Turkish complex, and I'm ashamed to say that my knowledge of the language is very limited. It does seem, however, that a lot of the Brits from SanKop use the forum. So perhaps we can form some kind of minority committee to voice our own concerns (a bit like the Lib Dems in parliament, but hopefully someone will take a bit more notice of us!)

Thanks to you all once more for all the info and advice.

Mark & Sue

Hi Mark and Sue, not sure about condition of cat as it had been let out, but the house was a smelly mess ! We are going to repair the broken windows but we may be replacing all the property with UPVC ones soon any way.
You might know which one it is if I tell you that we aready renovated all their garden and put an iron fence around it and painted inside and out of the house. Looks much much better.

Hi Mark and Sue
We are friends of Angie and also have a house on the Sankop sitesi. The new management have spent a lot of money making the site more attractive over the last year. They have sent out a report on all their expendetures, which Angie has obtained through Gul at L and M, only problem being that it is in Turkish, however Angie is getting it translated into english through her friend at the Kebab shop, maybe she could send it to you. When are you next planning on going to Turkey? We are over for a month in June and again in September. Would like to meet you. Have met quite a few Brits on the site
