We are going to build again..............

We are planning to build our 3rd development.... maybe.
Have our eyes on piece of land on the flat in central Gundogan as we know they sell quickly & are highly rentable there.
We are looking at possibilities of 6 apartments with a pool similar to our first development.
Its all up in the air but we are at the planning stage.

So was just wondering what bits of peoples Turkish properties they think are good and they would keep....and which bits drive them nuts and they wouldnt have again ????
PLEASE dont mention tapus or iskans or damp.
We always have the iskan and deeds ready before we sell and we put damp course in & bodrum slate around the bottom of all our builds PLUS they are all 2 steps up away from any heavy rains.

So for example......
Love the showers in ours as they are the whole width of the bathrooms.
Love the fact that washing machine & water heater are not in the bathroom but in a seperate recess.
Love that we only do small developments. 6 apartments at the most with a pool.

Hate....... kitchen taps that are in the way of opening the kitchen window fully & can only open it on tilt.
Hate.......lack of a tall cupboard for storing ironing board & brooms & ladders etc
Hate.......kitchen tiles with pictures of teapots & kitchen stuff

Re: We are going to build again..............

want
kitchen cupboards to be where they should be, ie: space for extractor fan to be above the space for the cooker not 6 inch to one side.
the ability to open all kitchen cupboards at the same time, not ones where the handle of one open one stops another opening.

like
good quality floor and bathroom tiles and a good tiler being used
large shower
decent size bathroom
extra loo

Re: We are going to build again..............

One of my pet hates - cheap and nasty fittings that fall to bits within no time. I would be happy to pay a bit extra for taps and door handles that don't fall to bits in your hands and doors/windows where the seals actually meet!! I am amazed to find such cheap and nasty stuff even on some quite expensive, up-market builds in the area.

A fully integrated kitchen and a bath with shower over rather than just a shower (no matter how big the shower is lol)!

Have to agree, a bath is a must for me. Built in storage space is what I find most places here could do with. Good luck Lynne. x

Re: We are going to build again..............

Our house is a disaster from start to finish - well its not finished yet - but if it was or if could start all over again I'd like windows that open outwards especially those on stairs - ours are deadly, you are so busy looking at your feet on the spiral marble steps you dont notice a window open until you crack your head, non slip floor tiles and a contempory kitchen, not the two tone basket weave units that are everywhere. If I had the money I would love a walk in wardrobe, a boot room and a walk in pantry - ahhhhhhhhhh I live in a dream world lol.

Re: We are going to build again..............

We had slider windows put in on our house as I was fed up with inward opening windows in our other house here, kept banging my head/shoulder on them!

Re: We are going to build again..............

Yes, I hate inward-opening windows too!! If this was my own place rather than rented I'd seriously consider replacing them.

Re: We are going to build again..............

I think the main reason they do the inward opening windows is because of the mossie nets - otherwise you would have to open/remove the nets everytime you wanted to open/close the window.

Our windows have a tilt option which works well, they do slam shut when very windy so up until recently we wedged them with books - now we have gone up market and have had covered foam wedges made!!!!
