Wink summer in Gundogan

Thought it was about time that we had a thread on Bars, restaurants, trips etc in Gundogan. So come on you lot from Gundogan, start talking!!

We went to Hanimellis by the harbour the other week and it was really nice, and of course Iskale bar is always good value. Have been told that the bar next to Iskale is also very good (sorry I cant remember the name of it) and we will be trying that on our next visit this summer. And Pammukale also was good.

Re: summer in Gundogan

Having spent most of our summer hols in Yalikavak in the past, this year we have opted to stay in the village of Gundogan. We stayed in our friends villa at Easter, and although the village was not quite open for tourists, there were a few good eateries around (see above) We did however go to Yalikavak on two occassions to eat at our favourite restaurant, Sofi's, right on the waterfront. It is a lovely restaurant, run in the capable hands of Alex, well known in Yalikavak (Cassanova on the forum). Read the reviews on Tripadvisor. We got the dolmus to Yali in the afternoon, had a coffee at the new Mustis and took a leisurely stroll down to the harbour and on to Sofis in the evening, where we had a delicious meal, before getting a taxi back to Gundogan. Well worth a visit.

Just hoping to find some equally nice restaurants in Gundogan now, but will definately be revisiting Sofis again.

Re: summer in Gundogan

We love to go up to Gundogan when we are there in the summer (not been in Maytime), we park up the top end near to the beach area, and walk all along the little prom there, stopped and had a meal on one of our visits, about the third one along and it was a little converted boat type restaurant, the meal and the vews across the bay were lovely. I think it was just called simply Balik. We have a walk along sometimes of a morning and stop by for a coffee, there's a little shop on the corner as you walk into the village, sold Magnums, yummy. it's a lovely unspoilt village.

Re: summer in Gundogan

I had a day at Gundagon last year, went on the Dolmus from Turgutreis but got off at the wrong place so had to get another Dolmus back. However it was lovely, had lunch on one of the jettys and then lazed on a sofa until I was too hot and then went down the steps that gentle puts you in the sea....fantastic, can't wait to go again this year, but when going for the Dolmus back to Turgutreis, the last one left at 5pm so had to get Dolmus to Bodrum and then one back to Turgutreis. Great way of seeing the penisula. lol

Have just come back from Gundogan. Was just there for a week this time. Tidying the garden and catching some sun. As always Iskale reasurant / bar was great. Good service and good food day and night. We also had a good night in what used to be the Alara club on the corner, Sorry can't remember the new name. Its the bar opp what used to be the Mercan. We didn't eat but it has a good bar man who we named Tom Cruise because he made such good cocktails!!! We also had a couple of great meals at a small new reastaurant called Kays. Walk past the harbour towards the Istanbul and its just there on the left. Again the service was excellent and also the food. Very reasonable in price too.
I have to say it was really quiet during our stay but I think it was due to the elections.

Can't wait to go back!

Re: summer in Gundogan

We just spent a day in Turkbuku - camped out about mid way down the pedestrian street at Knidos Restaurant and Hotel (The toilets are in the hotel, and a treat to use). We lazed away the day on their deck and cushions - the food was good - although a little expensive, but I think that is par for the course in this location.

The water was a clear mill-pond - and amazing to swim in. This was our first trip to Turkbuku (we travelled from Gumuskaya area) - and this is head and shoulders, the best beach we have ever visted on the peninsula - and we've been to a lot of them.

You've just brought back memories of a wonderful day that we spent there, it was in our early days of visiting when headed off out in the car we stumbled upon Turkbuku, what a lovely afternoon we had, stunning little place.

Yes we couldn't believe how quiet it was during our trip -- but I liked it!
