Travel Insurance

Hi can anyone tell me what they do about travel insurance, stupidly or not I have just being using our annual family travel insurance without any trouble, but seeing as I am going abroad just a few weeks after my last chemo (just had it yipee!) and I will proberbly still be a bit delicate I think I should get insurance for pre existing conditions anyone got any recommendations.

Re: Travel Insurance

Saw a TV advert last night for a specialist 'travel insurance for recovering demics' company....(pls take that as intended, as post chemo/radio myself!)...something called 'All Clear' who have a website, I believe, but just not got around to it yet. Personally, used Insure and Go once I'd stopped regular treatments and they charge us 70.35 for family Silver Cover (Europe, including Turkey). However, as I'm sure you know, costs depend upon your diagnosis and (more importantly) the risks presented by your prognosis. Can't really, therefore, avoid comparing several and answering some pretty personal questions. Good luck!

Re: Travel Insurance

I am insured by All Clear. I have a whole pile of ailments, not cancer but this year found that most insurers refused to cover me at all and one wanted 300 pounds for 2 weeks cover. All Clear were much more realistic about my problems and gave us cover for myself and husband for 120 pounds for an annual policy. More than we used to pay but still not too bad. Best of all there were no exclusions. I think this is the company that insured my friend when we took a holiday a couple of years ago. She had incurable cancer and they charged less than 20 pounds for a weeks holiday but there were exclusions. It is really important that you tell them about everything you have and any hospital stays, drugs you take or clinic appointments or you will find that in the event of a claim they will refuse to pay out.

Re: Travel Insurance

I agree it is really important to tell the insurers everything. I have been using annual travel insurance provided free by my bank and have never done any more than advise them of the dates I will be out of the country, until someone suggested I should mention health issues.

I did and got charged a 20 top up on the policy and a letter guaranteeing that the medical condition was not going to cause an insurance issues later on.
Best to mention anything you are not sure about or else the sting in the tail is them refusing cover when something happens because you forgot to say something about your health.
