Strange experience

Last night while sitting watching TV, I had a very strange experience.
I moved my head sideways and heard a loud "pop" in my head. It was like a baloon popping. I also felt my temperature go up, but this temperature rise may have been a "hot flush". Last week my fingers and toes suddenly became very cold and I started to feel a bit dizzy. All these symptoms may be unrelated, and I do intend to visit the doctor.
I am just wondering if this has happened to anyone on here, who may be able to shed some light on it.

Mary.

Re: Strange experience

Yes, you must visit the doctor, Mary. The sudden rise in temperature would most probably have been a hot flush (if you are in the menopause), but other symptoms don't sound menopausal.
My guess is blood pressure - do you suffer from high blood pressure?
In any case, this is just wild guessing on my part and I very much hope it's nothing of concern.

Re: Strange experience

Yes, blood pressure is what I was thinking also. A number of years ago it used to be high and I was on medication for this. But I have had this checked recently and it is normal. I am more worried about the "pop", I heard.

Re: Strange experience

Thank you, Chrystalchris for that.

I never knew such a thing existed. Exploding Head Syndrome! Lol.
I have googled it and read about it now, so I am not feeling so worried.
I don't feel stressed though, but I have been on the go a lot lately and not getting a lot of sleep. So that may be the cause of it it.

Re: Strange experience

I had a similar experience with the popping in my head, normally when i was sitting down and relaxing. I went to see my doctor as i was a bit concerned as it was happening more often. He told me its quite normal when i explained it was like a thunderflash going off in my head. His explanation was that as the body relaxes the brain also shuts down from its constant working and thinking, it often shuts down with this sort of bang or flash but in most people this occurs after you have gone to sleep, hence we do not notice it. Upshot was, do not worry and live with it. It has been happening top me now for over 10 years and touch wood - i am still here!

Re: Strange experience

I have read of this condition before.

It particularly affects Tipp ladies and is called Eurofatigue- it strikes whilst the sufferer is continually counting their money.

Its unheard of in Belfast

Re: Strange experience

It could be minute air bubbles in one of your neck joints Mary
Not serious and lots of people get the same type of thing when yawning, a loud audible crack from your jawbone just below your ear
I've had that and usually my hearing then becomes crystal clear for a while
Think cracking your fingers (like some piano players do before playing to loosen their joints up) -same thing
