Re: kidney stones

My husband has had kidney stones or renal colic as its called about 3 or 4 times,,it is very very painful,,they say its the same as labour pains,,,luckily he managed to pass them without any need for intervention,,he was advised to limit his calcium intake,, and drink plenty of water to help flush them through when he felt pain coming on,,,you can also sieve the urine output with a piece of gauze to observe if the stone is passed,,,,,

Re: kidney stones

Don't know if its inherent because I know a family where at least 4 of them have had the same recurring problem. Apparently very painful so our sympathies and hope he is better soon.

Re: kidney stones

My husband has kidney stones also and after a scan said that more than likely he would pass them. i know the pain is excrutiating as he has had to have pain injections several times. Now the doctor has said he must not have any more of these injections and to allow nature to take its course. so far 3 months has passed, and not knowing for sure if he had passed them he had another scan which revealed they were still inside. The doctor did say that he will definately know when they pass (the pain).

If they grow to big to pass then the procedure for removal is quite simple. A hospital visit where a laser is used to break the stones up which are in turn passed.

We were also told that they are inherited as members of his family have also had them in the past.

Make sure he drinks lots of water each day to help dislodge the stones.

Re: kidney stones

You could look up Apple Cider Vinegar. The theory is that the acidic vinegar disolves the stones.

Re: kidney stones

Hi, i have suffered from kidney stones for the last 27 years, my body seems to produce one every month. I drink a herbal remedy called Quebra Pedra, apparantly it comes from a plant which grows in the rain forests of Brazil and translated means stone breaker. I have been drinking this for years and it seems to work for me, as the stones i pass are quite small and not as painful to pass as they were before i started drinking it. You can buy it in any good herbalist.

Re: kidney stones

I had kidney stones 20 years ago when I was 5 months pregnant. The pain was excruciating and much worse that labour. I was taken into hospital as they thought the pain would maybe bring on premature labour but thankfully I was ok. They gave me pethadine for about 5 days to help with the pain. They said I would probably pass them during childbirth. Nothing was mentioned about it when I gave birth but I haven't experienced the pain again. My heart goes out to anyone with kidney stones, worst pain ever !

Re: kidney stones

I 100% know the feeling, had this problem about 5 times over the past 2 years. Managed to pass the stones each time, as they were small enough, he will pass some blood with the urine. Yes its painful but keep taking the pain relief. Drink loads of water daily and I also drink a glass of fresh lemon juice, this is meant to help desolve the stones. Good luck

Re: kidney stones

Had kidney stones a number of years ago and cannot describe the pain and discomfort, like mirazz i was given Pethedine for about 5 days which took the edge off but did make me very sick. i eventually passed a whopper of a stone into a sieve and to this day, i have no understanding how that thing managed to come out without surgical interference! Touch wood, have never had them again - thank god!
