SGK/SSK Health Insurance

Just a note remember to update when you renew your İkamet/Blue Book with the SSK people. This ensure you are on the hospital computer if you need medical treatment.

Did mine today needed my Yabanci Kimlik Number - Passport- İkamet - Wedding Book or and of course in my case husband. Took five mins tops.

Re: SGK/SSK Health Insurance

I don't understand what this is about.

Are you saying that when you renew your residency you need to inform SGK office of this fact? Or just if you have a new blue book.

I thought the SGK records were based on your kimlik number, not the RP book number and, as I understand it, once you have a kimlik number, it doesn't change even if your residency lapses.

Can you explain a little clearer please for confused oldies like me.

Yes every time you re-new/extend your residency you must inform the SSK office. Otherwise it will not be on the computer when you go for medical treatment.

Re: SGK/SSK Health Insurance

Absolutely correct. One of the conditions of being able to join the SGK system is that you have a RP. Some people have mistakenly believed that they can get a RP for year, join the SGK, and not renew the RP. That is untrue.
The SGK computer has a record of when your RP expires and on that date will temporarily delete you from the system until you turn up at the SGK office with your renewed RP which they will take a copy of, update the system, and restore your entitlement.

Thank you beyazbayan and also to villabaris1 for that clarification.

Now I understand, it's that you need to present proof of renewed residency to the SGK office in order to continue to use the system. Thanks again.

So does that mean that if I am no longer happy with SGK when my RP expires, this is my get out clause? So basically I do not take my new blue book to the office to be re-registered and I will no longer have to make payments to SGK?

Re: SGK/SSK Health Insurance

Maybe if you are not happy with the SGK you should take it up with them and go through the proper channels to see how you can leave the system. Your idea of a using " a get out clause" by simply not turning up with your new RP would simply mean that your monthly payments would continue building up and you would be legally liable for that debt whilst having no benefits whatsoever.
