Mains Gas at new complex
Hi
The new development that we are buying at told us last week that they have decided to have mains gas connected to the site and that we HAVE to pay the £200 deposit to gas company and £400 infrastructure cost. Then no portable canisters of gas but a meter. Does anyone have any previous experience of mains gas and connection costs?
Thanks

Re: Mains Gas at new complex
Gipseybabe have had a quick look at your previous post and I gather that you are buying in Gumusluk on a new complex of 41 units, and that the maint charges are 60 GBP per month each (total 29000 GBP per annum). Questions Has gumusluk got mains gas now??? If not when do you expect it/have been told the mains gas will be on line??? do you believe that the mains gas will be supplied on time??? what will you do for water heating/cooking if its not on time??? Do you believe that your complex is getting 29000 worth of maintenance and security per annum??? do you think that 400 each for the gas pipes (collectively 16400 GBP) is a fair price??? Do you think it fair and reasonable for the developer to start adding extras and then charging you for them post contract signing???

Brynn
As you can most probably gather from my previous post I obviously don't think that we will be getting £29k worth of maintenance and security which is why I placed the post. The developer is not adding charges post-contract as I haven't signed anything yet which is why in my previous post I asked re having contract state certain things. My solicitor is checking re the gas questions. I thank you for your concern, but we have found a good apartment in a great location with a wonderful view, it seems this is the way developments are going now and until us foreigners find a way to all get together and say no way jose it is going to continue. That does not mean I am going to sit back and let them walk all over me which is why I am asking these questions.
Regards

Re: Mains Gas at new complex
i would endorse everything that Bryn has said...this is soooo soooo dodgy and if people are prepared to take these conditions then its no wonder british buyers are seen by many sellers as naive. Sorry to be blunt but i cant see any germans or other europeans accepting this

Re: Mains Gas at new complex
Shirley Anne and Bryn
What are we meant to do about it when we have found the perfect apartment that we believe will be finished to a high standard with an amazing view and location that we want to buy and believe me I have looked around and it is a lovely spot. We do not know any of the other purchasers to get together. I am asking questions of the developer but do I say 'no way I won't pay that much maintenance' and 'you can connect to gas but we are not paying', if we haven't both signed a contract yet.
Can't he say that if you don't sign you can't have apartment? Please advise.

Re: Mains Gas at new complex
Hi gypsybabe. I have just phoned my daughter, who has been selling property all over the Bodrum Penninsula for a couple of years and she has just said that Gumusluk has definitely NOT got mains gas.

Re: Mains Gas at new complex
I wonder if the builders are confusing the mains gas with tanked gas,
There is a holiday village being built in Uzumlu there is no way they could have mains gas but on speaking to the builder he kept telling us that all the properties will have mains gas and a meter in each property,
We eventually got to the bottom of this matter, it turns out that yes all the properties will have gas central heating and gas cooking and they will have a gas meter. hidden away on the site is a very large gas tank, which will feed all properties, they will not read meter like the uk but will have a card system like the ETM meters on the UK (pay as you go).
This is maybe what they are meaning by mains gas.
