Re: No one in DALAMAN?

Quite simple, if you want to go out for a drink and may be a meal, now a days in our area you do need to travel much further a field, infact 30-35 minutes. And some people will drive. And yes I had one beer in Calis, so I was drink driving. I also met another couple there who were from Dalaman and they drove down.

Of course with petrol prices going up like crazy, this will stop people going further afield at some point.

Re: No one in DALAMAN?

We now go to Gocek, but as you say 1 beer and you are over the limit for drink driving. Now another matter entirely different from what we have been talking about is, does anybody know how many chickens a person can keep by the side of the road?We have a neighbour a couple of doors down who has about 50, and 2 very noisy cockerels who cock a doodle all day and most of the night, it's driving us potty, any info would be much appreciated, as we are now suffering from sleep deprivation.

Thanks Trisha

Re: No one in DALAMAN?

Our neighbour certainly has more than 50 chickens and yes those darn cockerels make lots of noise, but you do get used to it.

I should have asked, is it because all your local places have closed down or just too expensive

Re: No one in DALAMAN?

There are now only 3 local places in town where we can drink and have a meal and the price is just too high.

Re: No one in DALAMAN?

Having just spent a wonderful time in Dalaman I was a little dismayed with some of the comments on the forum. We came to Dalaman as we wanted to live within the local community. We spend several nights in what was Cadi bar and Marti bar. We were the only British couple in there, yet as usual couldn't have been made to feel more welcome,it is lovely talking to the locals, us with our very limited Turkish and their limited English but with use of a dictionary we get by, then to top it all a lift home without us even asking for one.
I know some restuarants have closed but Agora, Cinar, Yosum and palymire all still offer free pick up service not forgetting the cafe by the market and Burc within walking distance for those in karacali, and where in Britain could you get an evening out with starter, main course, fruit for desert, beers and very large vodkas all for approx 32 per couple.
We still like to go to Gocek, Dalyan, and Fetiye for food and drinks but with a very cheap bus service admittedly a bit harder now the bus station has moved but still a good day out.
We can not wait to give up work and live out there on a more permanent basis.
