Anyone Sew?
I love to sew but usually I just make quilts, pillow shams and curtains...things for my own enjoyment that do not require a pattern but with International Children's Day approaching my sons class will be preforming in a parade dressed in costumes from around the world and his teacher sent home some burlap type material to make him a Native Indian costume.......Is anyone able to help me find a free pattern? All I can find is order sites and I am afraid if I order a pattern it will not be here in time to make the costume.

Re: Anyone Sew?
yikes ezra, what if you didnt know how to sew at all????
well lets see now.......how about a vest and a loincloth? the loincloth woul be super easy....the vest would require some cutting and stitching. let me see what i can find online and direct you to it.
or.....didnt the indians also wear long pants with fringe??? you could buy him a pair of pants the same color as the burlap and glue the fringe on..... and make a vest with the burlap, or even just a plain top, then make some beaded necklaces for him to wear....an arm band.....a head band....also made out of the burlap with beads sewen on or glued on.....

American Indian. I am thinking of using a pair of pants and a t-shirt as a pattern for the burlap, sewing it up and adding some fringe to the edges but I am just worried without a pattern it may not turn out. Hopefully it will resemble an Indian. I was also going to see about getting some feathers to make a head piece too.

apart from ordering you can see pictures of various costumes ..browse the catalogues in 'costumes' for ideas..
