Greatest Footballer

With the Football being the biggest sport worldwide watched by millions and played by all countries, Who would you rate as the best player past or present and why.

Mine may not be a popular choice, but for me it has to be Diego Armando Maradona, for single-handedly taking Argentina and winning the world cup.

George Best..
thrilling to watch him running with the ball and scoring as a young man with Manchester United.

George Best by a long way as a forward.
Bobby Moore as a defender.
Gordon Banks as a Goal keeper.
And Brazil for all round talent over the years

I'm sorry I just can't resist this as you two have said things that you probably haven't meant but they're wonderfully apt.....

"Mine may not be a popular choice, but for me it has to be Diego Armando Maradona, for single-handedly taking Argentina and winning the world cup."

Singlehandedly is right!! http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:qQQmWW81itBruM:http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/f7/Hand_of_God_goal.jpg/180px-Hand_of_God_goal.jpg

"George Best.. scoring as a young man with Manchester United."

And score he did.....http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:XcN0g0tP5s-FwM:http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/06_01/gbestDMp33_468x308.jpg

For me it's George Best in my heart, but my head says Pele because of what he accomplished in the game..
