Re: Bodybuilding for Women
I miss the gym when im on holiday - trying to get back into it but not goin for 3 weeks makes it hard to get back in to!
I do weights but just toning weights and do body combat which I love - really missed that on holiday! I do all the cardio stuff aswell but find that really boring so try to get to body combat 3 times a week for an hour at a time and mu god do you do a lot in that hour! If i moved to Turkey id defiately have to join a gym!

Re: Bodybuilding for Women
Wow Jen body combat is good stuff, where do you do that? ! I know what you mean, when I'm due to go anywhere like a holiday I'm checking my gym itinerary - isn't that pathetic!
I am sure there are thousands of Brits (gym bunnies)out there in resorts that would love to be able to get to a gym in the 2 weeks they are there. I'd love to open something on the scale of Total Fitness out there if I had the money! I think it would go down well with the brits and the turkish men who like to keep themselves fit too!

Re: Bodybuilding for Women
I do body combat in 'Hearts' Ladies Fitness Club in Wallasey - just been to a class now its amazing!
Its nothing like total fitness - just a smallish friendly gym for us girlies - wouldnt want to go to a mixed gym, id feel i had to make an effort to look half decent!
Just looked on the notice board and theyve added another body combat on Monday mornings!!! Its great being off, i can go to it 5 times a week now!
Would definately go to a gym on holiday - it would have to have some serious air con though!

Re: Bodybuilding for Women
What is Combat?
I used to go to a gym for years and then I just stopped and never went back, it was after a holiday as well. I keep thinking about it but never do it. I originally started for weight loss but I don't think it did much for that, however there was no doubt I felt fitter and stronger.
Someone posted recently that there is a gym in Fethiye - do you know it Jenny?

The legs are strengthened and toned through kicks and shuffles and the upper body is trained through a variety of punches, hand and elbow strikes and defensive moves

No wonder you ladies are not afraid to go to Turkey on your own.

Re: Bodybuilding for Women
Thanks for that
I did a little kick boxing and found that quite enjoyable but never really got into it. It sounds good.

Re: Bodybuilding for Women
That about sums it up Canim, thanx!
We got a lift home most nights but everytime we walked home by ourselves down the long dark road to poppy Apartments, laura was stressing incase someone followed us or tried something untoward - i certainly wasn't worried at all - I kept saying to her if someone jumps out at us i'll just pull one of my combat moves on them and we'll be sorted!
Before this year I would have been anxious myself, especially as we have been followed home a few times and men are always pulling up in cars as we walk home asking us if we want a lift (do they really think were going to turn round and say "yes i'll get in a car with you random stranger"!) but now I am perfectly confident that I could look after myself.
Its not what I started Body Combat for and never really thought about self defence, but its always a good thing to have I suppose.
I have heard about the gym in Fethiye but never got round to looking into it, I suppose when it comes down to it, on holiday im just too lazy to do anything other than sleep and eat cheese ruffles during the day! If they did body combat id go but dont think I would just to do a normal gym workout.

Re: Bodybuilding for Women
Ta for all that info Jen I think I might check out bodycombat in TF. I know they do it in the Lifestyles in the Liverpool City Centre, I need to broaden my horizons re my fitness and take a change of tack as per my physical development which is getting more and more difficult as I get older re: metabolism.
When your young it's dead easy but believe me it gets harder and harder as you get older to maintain your body shape. I have learned over the years much to my disappointment the body does not naturally hold itself together like a young body does and you have to work harder and harder to maintain that youthful physic
