Many thanks

Calm down Steve or they will track you down and Jandama will do you under article 301.
We are here only as guests and are expected just to spend our cash - thats all.

Re: Boat Parts from the UK
Steve has a point about introducing yourself, but I doubt even after a couple of posts you'd get anyone to bring it over - best wait for the advice on other methods.
Steve - remember THE question - have you packed this yourself? I for one wouldn't dream to be anything but polite with customs - in any country

Re: Boat Parts from the UK
Well Hello again,
Thanks for the replies so far, as you can see from my post I and my wife live on a boat and have been wintering in Marmaris yacht Marina. It's our first year in Turkey after a few years in Greece, and I must admit ....so far so good! We have thought about someone bringing the sail back from the UK, but we liveaboards tend to go out light and return with the max, so 14kgs excess is a little costly. Anyway, thanks again so far

Re: Boat Parts from the UK
Welcome
I believe it would be subject to a customs charge
a friend of ours recently had parts for a scooter that
werent available in Turkey and had quite a wrangle with
customs,
I might add for imegRANT or should that be
ignoRANT steve smith that such fees are levied in the
UK also when recieving parcels from abroad.
It may well be worth a cheap last minute flight back to
the Uk. easy jet from Dalaman on the 31st of march was
29euros
We brought out with us a propeller for our speed boat last
year along with a cover and had no probs, We are just round
the headland from Marmaris in Sogut, happy sailing

Re: Boat Parts from the UK
Hi scouse,
Appreciate your problems.... can i make a suggestion ?
How about you get your vessel to a greek ( EU ) port for a short while, and arrange for the sail to meet you there ? This would apply for bigger purchases or a major bit of kit anyway ! As I understand it as an EU country you will have no tax to pay, as it would have been paid in the UK. ( EU > EU ) You dont intend to permanently import your vessel into turkey... I think you get to leave it here for 5 years before any charges are applicable. Then if you hop to greece for a while , the cycle starts over.
Not done much cruising around the Med so not fully aware on the rules , but PM me if you get stuck, colleagues have travelled extensively and are more aware. Apologies if this is coals to newcastle or you are fully aware of this already..... Egg suck V.01 !

Re: Boat Parts from the UK
There are special rules about importing yatch parts duty free. A quick search has given me this page and about half way down it explains some of the process:
http://www.kesit.com/bvoyage/marina.htm
If you have a local marina, perhaps they can help you.
