Hi folks, My names lorraine and husband is Gordon, we came to Turkey in January this year and then to Fethiye in February and purchased our property, and we LOVE IT!!!! I have no regrets and no yearnings to return to UK, I am home, hubby sometimes gets the blues, but tough!

I have been having a good read of the forum (still trailing through the reams of information) The information and experiences supplied by the members is amazing, and so helpful (although we have been through most of the teething stages, just waiting for our molars and wisdom teeth now; but still eager to learn).

One Topic interested me though, BNA (who)? We were taken out by them to veiw property last year, I fell in love with one property off plan and was requested to put down £2000 deposit there and then, and pay the remainder in 12 weeks and our property would be ready in the new year. however, we went back to our hotel and I had time to cool off and declined, as my intuition kicked in and stopped me.
When we eventually came to Fethiye in February, out of curiosity went to look at the property, and found they had not yet broke ground, even though we were told this was the only plot remaining; nothing was there,(what happened to the other villas) lucky escape came to mind. (maybe should have put this in a different forum, sorry)

All said and done happily ensconsed in my home.
Keep up the good work.

Hi Lorraine and Gordon

Welcome to this very friendly forum, I am so jealous of you living over in Turkey, we were hoping to move over in the next couple of years but realistically we won't get out for about five years

We very nearly went over to Turkey for five days to look at villas with BNA but went on holiday to the Bodrum Region and bought a place there! They don't get good press do they?

I look forward to your postings and a Happy New Year to you both.

Hi Lorraine and Gordon

Welcome to the forum. You would be a great help to other forum members who want to move over there permanently.....they could pick your brains!

My husband and I have a place in Altinkum and we will be there in May.....it seems a life time away.

Hiya Loz and Gordon and welcome, hope you and everyone else had a nice crimbo.Liz and myself went to one of our daughters for crimbo din din.Guess what we had?...WRONG ha ha.We had a chinese banquet...different eh lol.

Boxing Day was spent entertaining some of the family at our gaff.I spent 5 hours cooking and setting it all up...yes i can cook lol.New Years eve's gonna be the same,i'm a glutton for punishment.

After the initial flurry of people viewing our bungalow, its now gone dead, which i suppose is to be expected, because of the time of the year. Will we ever get to "Tinky".

Ok i'll bugger off now,but let me wish you all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR,may it be filled with health and happiness to each and everyone of you. God bless. Rick.

Hi and thank you all for the warm welcome.

We purchased our house through "Real Tours" in Fethiye, I believe that we may have been their first customers as the business orignally was car hire and tours. However, they were fantastic and assisted us in every way possible, they are now into construction. They have asked Gordon for advice re the British build and are now building villas with double skin walls central heating and air con as standard with plenty of drainage and a walkway around the villas to avoid water seepage etc.... almost wish I was in the market to purchase now. But anyow we have remained firm friends and any queries we have now they are always willing to lend a hand at sorting. That is what I call excellent aftersales service.

The builder of our villa is still selling the the one infront of us, his "right hand man" often comes to check on the villa and always makes a effort to call on us asking if everything is ok. The Turkish don't you just love them.

Our friend has been out to visit us twice since October and has fallen in love with the place so much is looking to purchase a property, and luckily for him he has a very nosey friend in me as i am villa searching for him camera in hand, then going home to write long emails discribing location state of property resale, new, off plan etc.... I am enjoying doing this hubby thinks that i am a frustrated estate agent, told him no just nosey. (speedy you been talking to my husband? Inquisitive? Nosey, nah same thing)!!

The only advice I give is this. When we came to Turkey on our summer holidays we alwayd dreamed of marble floors and stairs, however, as much as we loved them we rented a property in January February with both and were very cold as the marble soon lost the heat no central heating on;y aircon. we have since purchased a house with wooden floors and stairs and central heating and are warm as toast, yet still cool in the hot hot summer; therefore speaking through my personal experience and preference this is my ideal if the house is to be a permanent home.

On another note this year we have not done much travelling as busy with our home, we are planning on visiting Kusadasi, Gordon wants to visit Effesus(?) and then going to Altinkum, Nevan if you know of anywhere? we hope to do our exploring before the tourist season starts so if anyone knows of good holtels etc.. please let me know.

Rick your christmas sounds a different as ours, i did get a bit homesick christmas day but it soon passed. Happy New Year and I am sure that you will soon sell your property and start making plans for your new life.

Gail you too had a lucky escape.

Happy New year to you all.

P.s I will shut up, I am usually a very quiet lady, really.

Hi Jenny, thanks for the welcome. our house in Akarça just before Caliº, we are sandwiched between the Caliº road and the main Dalaman road before you get to the Devlet hospital, you never know we may just bump into one another next summer.
Mind on saying that you would probably bump into my husband more, although older than me by 13yrs (he is 56) tends to think that life in the summer is one long party, god knows when he will grow up, not going to hold my breath.
