Hi from Bulgaria.

Hi All,I'm Barny a Welshman living in Bulgaria, very close to the Turkish/Greek border, after visiting Turkey for the first time for a week,a few weeks back, in my Motorhome to Gallipoli and Troy and the coast there, found myself interested in the present and the past.
I have many things to learn, many questions to ask,and many places to see,so bear with me (and my spelling).Thinking of spending 90 days Dec to March in my M/H as near as Syria or Irak as i can (safety and warmth),so advice needed.
If anyone needs info on Bulgaria, life and is cheaper cost of living ,fire away.

Re: Hi from Bulgaria.

Hi Barney thats my sons name too.

Welcome to the forum.

I keep looking at houses in Bulgaria thinking one day I may go there instead of living here as everything is going up in price, you cant work, and somehow Bulgaria appeals to me the only thing is yet another language to try and master.

Hugs Maggie xx

Re: Hi from Bulgaria.

Maggie,If you pick the area or village correctly, you wont need to learn ' another ' language ! The area i'm in for instance has alot of Turkish families,my neighbours are Turkish, also Greek and Bulgarian,Turkish is spoken in the bars here,so you'll fit straight in,and where can you still buy houses for as little as £3000 ??? ok needing loads of work but still FREEHOLD with loads of land, half acre upwards...green everywhere but loads of hot sun...(well except for now, lol) weird weather for June/July ?
Check out Rhadopi mountains,Svilengrad,Harmanli,Mhadjarovo, and Khurdjali,2 and a bit hours to Istanbul, the coasts and Kavala Airport (Greece)and its coast.
Ooops am i rambling mod,appologies.

Re: Hi from Bulgaria.

Lol,Maggie, there's Pork everywhere and a sort of bacon too,but not the stuff we're used to from UK,but lately the big Supermarkets have been stocking ' our type' and yummie too, unfortunately as everything Bulgarian,if its onto a good thing or sells quick, they either dont bother to re order or think they need to try something else ??!!!Duh.
If your squeamish ,then Bulgaria might not be for you,as most animals are killed basicly, and most in the garden,in the field or even next to the road !!Cows, pigs, goats, well you name it,if you can eat it,they will. The local Turkish population either sneakily eat pork or eat goat,on their occasion you often see the goat led down the garden and ten minutes being taken back up on plates and pots.
Bulgaria can be a very ' basic ' country,a very poor one or the complete opposite now, with very rich and the latest conveniences.Try Britain 60 years ago in the country and the city,up to speed.
