Churches and Visa's

I obviously enjoy wierd combinations

Does anyone at all know if there are any Catholic shurches in either Kusadasi or Altinkum.?
Visa!!! Mary is a Doctor she is originally from the philippinesm therefore we drove 550 miles round trip to London and lined up fpr a visa in the rain , it was fun[)], when we got there we were horrified to find out we were given a one visit single entry visa, , and we have to each time to get another before we visit again, now as you know we are buying somewhere in either kusadasi or altinkum, hopefully next week, when we are there. I explained this and was told write in or ring, the thing is the Turkish embassy is harder to get hold of on the phone than Michael Jacksons chimp[8]. No one ever answers even the £1.50 a minute one doesnt work and if it did its an answering machine, Please can anyone help us, we might want to pop over for the weekend , it will cost us more in petrol and time than the holiday, How can we get a multiple entry holiday visa for Dr Mary, I appreciate any help we can get.....

Hi Ian,

I will try to find out about the churches, I don't think there are any in that area though.
As for the visa, you only get a single entry visa even if you have a British passport.

The only way round it would be to apply for residency, I think FB has more information on that, let's see if he can answer this one for you.

What a nightmare, wish I could help but I can't. As Mushtaq says, lets hope FB can help. WHERE IS HE? He hasn't been on for quite some time.

Good luck to you both.

Hi Ian and Mary,

I checked with our resident touristguide, who has been very busy, so couldn't answer the post himself.

He says there is no Catholic church around the area, there is a Protestant church near Ephesus, the nearest Catholic church he thinks is in Izmir, which is not that far, if you wanted to attend weekly.

HI IAN AND MARY,
THE COST OF A RESIDENCE PERMIT IS NOW 660 GBP FOR 3,4 OR 5 YEARS. IT IS OBVIOUSLY CHEAPER TO BUY ONE FOR 6 MONTHS, 1 OR 2 YEARS BUT IT INVOLVES GOING THROUGH ALL THE HASSLE AGAIN. THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 8 THINGS THAT YOU HAVE TO DO TO APPLY FOR RESIDENCY. IT INVOLVES LOTS OF RUNNING AROUND BUT IT CAN ALL BE DONE IN A FEW HOURS. ONCE YOU HAVE DONE EVERYTHING, YOU CAN SUBMIT ALL THE DOCUMENTS AND YOUR PASSPORT TO CUSTOMS POLICE AND IT WILL TAKE THEM APPROXIMATELY 6 WEEKS TO DEAL WITH IT. IF HOWEVER, YOU NEED YOUR PASSPORT BACK SOONER, YOU CAN DRIVE TO MUGLA OR ANKARA ETC. AND BE ISSUED YOUR PERMIT ON THE SAME DAY. IF YOU WANT TO GO AHEAD WITH RESIDENCY, LET ME KNOW AND I CAN LIST ALL THE THINGS THAT YOU NEED TO DO. HOPE THIS IS OF SOME HELP.

I knew you would know, clever clogs. What do you do, do you just pop over to Greece every 3 months or have you got residency?

Mushtaq,

With a UK passport, the standard visa is multiple entry over a period of three months with employment prohibited. You do need to be careful though, if the stamps showing entry and exit dates are not clear, immigration will send you off to get a fresh visa irrespective of the fact that yours is still valid.

I had a prob with this in Istanbul a few weeks ago and only got away with it because I still had the ticket stubs from my previous flight! It wasn't the tenner that bothered me, it was the massive queues at the visa windows!!!
