Hi Everyone

Hi! Everyone, Zoe' & Chris here, have just joined this forum, recently bought an appartment in altinkum near to third beach next to the sultan hotel. Can't wait to get out there in May to furnish it, we selected furniture in September with small deposit, are the furniture shops reliable delivering what you actually chose or are there hickcups? Excited. Zoe' & Chris.

We furnished most of our duplex last September, was a bit of a nightmare, the waiting around as we where not staying there, just remember when they say they will deliver at 12 it may be 5 or even 9pm, the satalite man turned to at 7pm one day worked for 15 mins was then to dark.
Everything turned out ok in the end.

I find most of the shops have there own peculiarities - but timing seems to be part of the Turkish culture, one I find wonderful - will work till midnight & frustrating - wait in all day for them to come.. arrive at night!Plenty of çay & cola helps as well. Homebaked cake works wonders as well []

Welcome Zoe & Chris to the forum The only thing I will say about Furniture delivery is as its part of the price to get them delivered and assembled they are not very caring when they load carry and unload so please check carefully we spent nearly £2500 in one shop only to have about the same an=mount of damage done by the workmen delivering! They break the furniture scratch the walls, breakl things in their way raid your fridge if your not there even eat your food out of your cupboards!!! Sorry to sound like this and one shouldnt generalize but buyer beware Thats why its cheap!! Good luck keep em peeled

Oh! My God what info! Well thanks alot ummmm! need to be there with my muscles pumping, ready for action. Or better still we're getting management lady Feryal to deal with it, i'll warn her they'll get no money till things are proper.(i've heard her talking on mobile she's quite a tough cookie)However,......... if they dare to steal any of my chocolate, well that's another story!!!!
Also, i've noticed alot of you have got satelite, is this expensive, how do they work it there money wise? Thanks everyone so far for info. Zoe'.

hi all, we found a lot of shops selling furniture, however the most expensive was up near the apollo temple, the shops nearer to gima were cheaper and the quality excellent. we had no problems in damage etc on delivery and all the goods were put into place at the apartment without fuss and with great care. also if you go past gima on the left hand side out of altinkum and to the roundabout there is a great shop that sells fabric for curtains etc. take your measurements and they will be made up for you.
