Re: renting a restaurant in turkey marmaris

Extremely hard work to start and run a business in Turkey from my experience, especially if you are foreigner.

Even if you have many local Turkish friends it's very difficult to run a business.

I would suggest you live in the area for at least 6 months before you start working on your business ventures.

Re: renting a restaurant in marmaris Turkey

I don't want to be negative but to arrive here and open a restaurant will more likely than not be one of the biggest headaches you will encounter. I suggest doing what Mushtaq advises then you will more likely understand. If you come here off season, then are still of a mind to progress, it will mean you can open when the new lot arrives for next season.

Re: renting a restaurant in marmaris Turkey

There is so much red tape to go through, the fees and taxes are endless, the customer base is forever shrinking, you really need to be living in the area and get a feel for what's needed before you even think about starting any business.

I found there are just too many hurdles in running a business in Turkey, if you want to enjoy Turkey - Don't go into any business venture.

If possible have an online business or income where you are not earning in Turkey, much simpler and less heartache and headache.

Re: renting a restaurant in marmaris Turkey

I think a reality check is needed.

Firstly restaurants in Marmaris apart from the very established ones often run at a loss- hence the new owners virtually every season.

Secondly theres an extraordinary high chance you will be well ripped on any rental agreement- if the place was profitable why wouldn't the owners or their families be running it not renting it out

And thirdly even if you rented a place you will not be allowed to work in it

You say you have many friends in Turkey- if you havent lived there I presume these are locals you met during various trips- MASSIVE difference between that and friends you can trust 101% and even bigger difference again as regards who you could operate a business with.

Re: renting a restaurant in marmaris Turkey

Another restaurant in Marmaris?! Well maybe Thai, Indian or Japanese but definitely NOT Turkish.

You’ll need to be a lot more imaginative than that to make a success - and if knew the answer I’d be doing it myself.

But I see you’ve posted under the ‘Introduce Yourself’ thread so maybe you should introduce yourself. There are some wise owls on TLF and it’s worth listening to them.

Welcome to the forum.
