Hello!

Hello Turkish Living people

I'm Patricia and I'm a new member.

My husband and I owned an apartment in Altinkum for 7 years. Loved every moment of our life there. Sold up two years ago.
I'm really hoping to be able to take early retirement soon (fingers crossed!) and my husband and I would love to spend our first free Summer in Turkey, but maybe somewhere different - Belek maybe?

Would really appreciate some advice guys? Would be looking for an extended let on a 2 bed property. Oh and, we have a little dog? I understand it's not a big deal to bring a dog to Turkey these days?

Look forward to your responses.

Re: Hello!

Welcome to TLF, Trish.

We have Members from all over Turkey and I am sure that someone from the Belek area will reply shortly.

Having brought two large dogs to Turkey myself, it is all pretty straightforward, especially if you use a reputable firm to arrange everything.

In the meantime, have a look around the various Threads and use the Search facility to find Topics of interest to you.

Re: Hello!

Thanks for your reply Dave.
When you say a reputable firm - I have had a quote from one and I nearly had a heart attack!
I understand with Turkish Airlines, small dogs can travel in the cabin. Have you heard of this?

Re: Hello!

Hi Trish, why Belek. Are the golfing facilities the draw?

Re: Hello!

Yes, you can take small animals in the cabin with Turkish Airlines.

Re: Hello!

No, definitely not a golfer Pete! lol

I read an article about it once. Made it sound lovely

Having exhausted Altinkum over the years, I'm really open to suggestions. Have been to Hisonaru, Olu Deniz for a holiday once. Loved that. Turgetres, Icmeler, Bitez also. Loved them all, but am quite aware that holidaying for a couple of weeks and staying there for 3 months or so is quite different.

Re: Hello!

Thanks for that Dave.
It reads that there is no extra charge, except if the weight exceeds the baggage allowance? I was quoted over 1300 by a pet transport company. Am I missing something here?

Re: Hello!

Not every airline allows cabin travel for pets.

We flew from Glasgow with Thomas Cook and brought 2 large greyhounds.

Total cost - 1700 quid.

It ain't cheap

Re: Hello!

Philip - quite a while back - around 15 years ago I suppose.
Are you gonna tell me things have changed somewhat?
