Things become much different after a couple of years as I never use the roof terrace other than for hanging out washing and the 2 balconies I havent been on for 2 years now.
Some good points there Juco, its a very "nice to have" then a necessity.

Probably most of us bought at the time with emotions but it really does change (at least for me)

In 10 years never been in the sea although I like to cycle along the sea front or sit and have beer on the sea front.

I have shops 3 minutes walking distance, how often even back home you just need to go back out to buy a forgotten item.

We can eat out within walking distance (5 minutes).

We can cycle to the village on the flat (no hills)

Did you come to Turkey to have all Brit neighbours or do you want to soak in normal Turkish life with at least some Turkish neighbours (useful if you want to learn the language)

Do you want a complex that can be noisy. Top floor "Penthouse" does that mean climbing stairs every time you go in or out?

A pool, lots of do's and donts regarding that.

Do you need a car? We did for the first few years til we realised it sat redundant for 99% of the time, we can however get by just as easily with Dolmus/Taxi for a fraction of the cost.

The list is endless so give a lot of thought to where you may want to be in a couple of years time.

I finally found it, but as per PM, well lets just say this is a nice property and 3 bed and maybe the quality of what Akbuk has to offer.

FOR SALE Detached Villa, Akbuk, Near to beach

Edit:

You could try looking for the contact details of 'Sevim, & her husband John who are Emlak (estate agents)

Note it is SEVIM and not Sevil as previously stated. (Sevil is the dentist)

.

I d prefer to have a multicultural environment tbh so hadn't thought about this.

Do you want a complex that can be noisy. Top floor "Penthouse" does that mean climbing stairs every time you go in or out?

Yes it does, and I have asked about lifts which are a rarity in Turkey apparently. It would definitely be a disadvantage to my (and misses') folks when they come over but again its the space I'm getting with the additional roof terrace.

A pool, lots of do's and donts regarding that. like? so I know please...

Do you need a car? We did for the first few years til we realised it sat redundant for 99% of the time, we can however get by just as easily with Dolmus/Taxi for a fraction of the cost.

Not too concerned about a car but I would like to cart a jet ski to and from the beach when I'm there.

The list is endless so give a lot of thought to where you may want to be in a couple of years time.[/QUOTE]

Again some good points for consideration. If I had an endless pot of money then I could satisfy all my dilemmas but I think I need to weigh up the pros and cons and as you say where I want to be in a couple of years and my folks age into consideration.

Just came across this advert which you may find interesting and could be worth making a offer.

Turkey, Didim, Altinkum, Duplex Penthouse Apartment, 3 Bedrooms | eBay

You will get many a Turk willing to transport for you for a few Lira, cheaper than having a car :-)

Thanks Oldfogy, this is Sezgin1 I believe and I'm currently looking at something in Sezgin2 a bit cheaper but unfurnished. Do you or anyone know the seller or anything about the complex?
