Hello everyone

I am here to join the discussions and for possible business opportunities. I am Turkish, single, finance-accounting and int. trade expert. I am originally from Aydin, grew up in Izmir. I worked in Izmir, Aydin, Mugla and Istanbul. I am not working for the last few years (since I moved to Kusadasi, there is no job for me in Kusadasi.). I am trying to setup my own company in Turkey or abroad. I hold degrees from reputable universities in Turkey and abroad.

Yes. I am unemployed. It's very normal.
You can meet too many highly qualified unemployed Turkish people especially in small cities of Aegean region. Because here families pay too much attention for good education of their children compared to other parts of Turkey. I am only one of those well educated unemployed Turks. I could only work in low level tourism related jobs (secretary, accounting) here. I tried to work in a hotel here but could work for less than a week then left the job. I am no longer looking for job. Because I know I can't find a real job. I want to start my own business here in Turkey, may move to my business to another country later on. It mostly depends on capital and I don't have enough capital at the moment though it's not a big amount.

That's partially correct. Partially because I am not actively looking for capital. Because I know it's difficult to find business capital from other people or from banks. Most people don't have an investor spirit or are not business minded and I can't blame them for that. Also Turkish banks don't give loans easily, especially commercial loans. Similarly I know finding a real job is impossible. So I do almost nothing, am just waiting. I am not hopeless or completely desperate. Although I am unemployed I have a small income. It's not from government aids or similar things like unemployment pension. These types of things work only in western countries but not in Turkey. So although I live in a low standard (I can't afford to buy meat, beer, etc) I can pay my bills and rent. Also I am trying to make small savings. As the business doesn't need a big capital to start I think I start in a few years.

Re: Hello everyone

I find it interesting that you mention beer as an essential that you cannot afford.

Many years ago the girl next door told me that their mortgage was in arrears. This because by the time bills had been paid (except the mortgage) and her husband had his beer money, there was nothing left to pay the mortgage.

Priorities!

Re: Hello everyone

No one would wish to drive for a living in the UK , hours are horrendous , pay is rubbish , certification for drivers is onerous and expensive , night out and tramping facilities in the UK are rubbbish compared to Europe. Driving jobs are marriage breakers.

Do not put your children in the cab Mrs Worthington.

University gives a scientific degree not a degree for employment. It is only a wrong perception of job-seekers and employers. Most jobs don't require to have a university degree like the jobs you mentioned, plumbers, etc. But due to the high unemployment, employers have an advantage to choose the best educated persons with the best talents + the best possible past experiences. I am not against to competition. But overqualificiation is a worldwide problem. Most employees are not happy. But since they are well educated they learn how to hide their true feelings, are able to look as if they are happy and optimist. Business world is full of lie, especially in Turkey.
